It was recently announced that 7 AKB48 members were confirmed to be cast in Ultraman Saga Movie, as some squad that is known as "TEAM U". READ ON!
Team U consist of (Top left-to-right)Sayaka Akimoto, Sae Miyazawa, Ayaka Umeda, Yuka Masuda, (Bottom left-to-right) Sumire Sato, Kana Kobayashi & Haruka Shimeda. It is the first time in the series' history that an Earth Defense Force consist of female members only. The 7 AKB48 members were chosen as a part of an AKB48 routine, which is an official subgroup, which is also known as Team Uas a commemorative of the 45th anniversary of the Ultra Hero Series in 2012.
As a celebration for the franchise's 45th Anniversary, Ultraman Zero, Ultraman Cosmos & Ultraman Dyna will teamed up against a threat by Bat Seijin, who sends Hyper Zetton to attacked those who were rebelling against him. Ultraman Saga will appear in order to defeat the Alien who had taken control over earth and restore peace to the planet.
Ultraman Saga will be premiering in theaters on March 24th, 2012.

In addition, here are updates regarding the characters played by the 7 AKB48 Members!
Sayaka Akimoto will played the leader of TEAM U, named Anna. She is an expert in handling machinery and the most independent of them all. Aside from that, she can handle tough situations on her own without relying on the other team members.
Sae Miyazawa will play a tomboyish girl who is less motivate when it comes to fighting, but she is a special commando of the team. Despite her attitude, she is the closest to Anna and can be considered as skillful as Anna when it comes to machinery. Her source of being energetic in battle came from her fellow comrades that fight along side her.
Sumire Sato will play as Anna's sister, who's also a medical specialist in the team. Though she's not good in fights, but her skills in medication could assist the team when it comes to aid those who are hurt in battle. She cares for children and is friendly to others.
Ayaka Umeda plays as the person who is second in command in the U Team. She's a professional in combat.
Masuda Yuka plays as the expert mechanic of the team. Speaks in Osaka accent, and had a cheerful soul.
Kana Kobayashi play as the team's engineer that developed their latest machines and weapons. She is the closest friend to the character played by Masuda Yuka. Together, they are known as the "Mechanic sisters" of the team.
Haruka Shimeda played as to communication operator of the team. She'll be the one who works on detecting any suspicious alien activities going around.
Along with the character infos, here's a new poster posted on GAgraphics which features the U-team together with the 3 other protagonist of the movie.
